I completed the FHNO Travel Fellowship at Shanku's Medicity, Mahesana, Gujarat under Dr. Nirav Trivedi in the first quarter of 2024.


During my tenure, I was not only involved with academic activities, ward rounds, and OTs but also achieved the objective of understanding the philosophy of compartmental resection and its specific indications in locally advanced oral carcinomas.The volume of patients presenting with advanced disease is significant at this Centre. The younger consultants ensured I gained ample exposure by ensuring my participation in the daily activities and allowing me to assist all their larger resections. I was given an opportunity to perform with assistance a couple of bialveolar composite resections and high ITF Clearance with the compartmental technique! Several tips and pointers were shared during the course of operating these cases.
I cannot thank the FHNO enough for facilitating and giving me this opportunity. I am sure the training and perspective I have gained will benefit the patients in the teaching institute I am attached to.

Thank you FHNO & Team for selecting me as Shireen Gazdar Fellow. It was the most learning experience of my life as a student. Being new to the field and belonging to a remote part of Odisha, it was not easy for me to find a mentor.

FHNO not only provided me with financial assistance but also helped me in selecting the best mentor. With the guidance of Dr Devendra Chaukar Sir, I was able to join one of the premier Cancer Centers in India, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Varanasi UP. Under the Mentorship of Dr Swagnik Chakraborty, Dr Aseem Mishra & Dr Sudhendu S Sharma I was able to learn from basics to advancement of Head Neck Onco-surgery. Without the help of FHNO I may never have completed the dream of becoming a trained Head Neck Onco-surgeon.
